I’m a quirky, fun-loving, crafty, nerdy, single mom to absolutely amazing fraternal twins. I tend to take on more than I should because all I know how to do is stay busy. Sound familiar? I love learning and have lots of random facts floating around in my head.
At the tender age of 37, I decided to return to school to complete my bachelor’s degree. I am currently studying French and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). If you haven’t guessed, I want to teach junior high or high school. My kids and my grandfather pushed me to go back. My grandparents mean everything to me so making them proud is important.
Family is important to me. I come from strong parents and grandparents. They have overcome the adversities of the Jim Crow South and fought for their rights during and after the Civil Right Movement. We are not a family of quitters. I’m proud to say that all of my siblings are hard workers, and there are a lot of us. I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters. I have 2 aunts on my dad’s side and 5 on my mom’s. I won’t even bother counting cousins. It should suffice to say that we are plenty lol.
My hobbies are cooking, crocheting, and other crafts. I also enjoy reading and doing research. My mom taught me to crochet and cook at a young age. I also spent plenty of time in the kitchen and gardens of my grandmothers learning to prepare various dishes, their recipes for baking their beloved desserts, and how to grow things.
You can expect to find an eclectic mix of my loves, passions, and life lessons. My faith is important to me so I will also be sharing inspirational notes and quotes. I’m all about growth, as you will come to discover. I’ve endured a lot and am still here only because of the grace of God. I hope that you are able to learn from my life, gain inspiration, and see God’s love and grace.
